.... is based on gentle interaction with you and your guests at your wedding to obtain memorable natural and artful images recording all the important moments.
At weddings, as for our other photography, we look to adapt to the situation rather than create it artificially. This means relaxed subjects, wherever possible captured using natural
light; it means capturing true emotion by concentrating on the subject, not the
equipment; it means looking for character
in portraits, natural informality in
people photography, adding a dynamic edge through using movement and unusual angles.
Although there are commonalities, the approach is not true 'reportage' or 'photojournalism'. These approaches are very hands off and can be too impersonal; but equally we don't like to go as far as artificially organising people, so in that sense we are far from traditional wedding photographers.
Our view is that weddings are too important to leave in the hands of a single photographer. So Scott only shoots weddings with a fellow photographer - whenever she is available, that is his regular assistant Meeyoung Son. This allows for more adventure, to not be afraid to stray away from the safe option, making for more inspiring wedding images. Two photographers simply allows for more freedom for creativity to come to the fore.
Unlike many wedding photographers who speciality away from weddings is often studio portraiture, the Light Touch speciality is informal people photography conducted on location. This may be of people running their businesses, in education, at leisure or at events - but it is all about getting something special out of largely unposed scenarios - ideal preparation for the huge range of lighting conditions that occur at different stages of a wedding.
Scott and Son also often work together to supply agencies (notably Alamy and Getty Images) with editorial and commercial lifestyle images, again often shot on location. The exacting aesthetic and technical standards required for such work, aimed at advertising use and regularly featuring in the national press, will show through in the work that goes into providing you with your images.
Before the wedding, we will always meet you to plan for the day, ideally at the venue.
After the wedding the attention turns to the images. Each image is examined and individually adjusted to look rather better than the 'as captured' or automatically processed images that you will get from many photographers. This inevitably means that rather more time is spent processing the digital images than is spent shooting at the wedding itself. You will receive the resulting full high definition image files for you to be able to print and distribute as you see fit.
As part of our normal service, you will also receive a 40 page large leather bound photo book with a selection of the best images.
You'll not find bronze, silver gold, diamond or platinum packages on this site. We don't want to tell you what's on offer, we like you to tell us what you want.
But we do give you a pricing guide so you can make an appraisal of the likely cost.
