The More Involved Shoot These shoots normally require special preparation up front, have a specific detailed brief to fulfil, usually to get a small number of images or even just one high value image. Here an estimate is provided based on all the factors that may be involved including meetings ahead of the shoot, scouting of locations, model fees, location hire etc and the degree of skill (technical and artistic) in producing the image. These shoots are conducted using the terms and conditions here that are essentially those agreed between the Association of Photographers and its advertising client base. If this all seems a bit much, after all you are just looking to get some quality professional photographs without a great deal of fuss, then we have... The Packaged Shoot Most clients have more routine demands for portraits, event photography etc and to cater for these are set fees that allow for potential clients to see a predictable cost outcome while still allowing for a full service to meets their needs. Here the charges are standardised and are as set out below. If what you are looking for is close to but does not seem to fit within the priced services below then please outline up front what your requirements are and then as far as possible they will be catered for. Use of images How you are using the resulting images is important. Being clear on this allows planning of the shoot in the correct way. You will have exclusive use of the images. The shoot Light Touch almost invariably shoot on location. Even a short shoot means closing out a day to other work so there is a set ‘shoot fee’. 40% of the shoot fee is payable in advance. Until this fee is paid the booking is not final. Shoot duration (time on site) and shoot fee To one hour: £225 Additional time on site above the shoot duration booked £30 per half hour or part thereof After the shoot – post processing The images are reviewed and processed as necessary to provide a set of images that can be reviewed online. The review images are 640px on the longer side – a useful dimension for use on the web. For images that you select, individual image are subject to final preparation to ensure top quality: £15.00 per image (first 10 images) Images are delivered at one time via email or CD/DVD as high resolution files**. Unless agreed otherwise payment is required ahead of delivery. Other charges that sometimes apply Most shoots just require the above mechanism to allow calculation of a final price. Other charges that could apply are as follows: Extending an engagement to shoot on additional days As day rates above, deducting 20% from rates shown. Burn images to disc as high resolution files to hand to you on site £50 (Only recommended where speed is more important than ensuring the highest quality – the processing time is included within the shoot time – read here to understand the implications. Full payment is required before the disc is burned.) Additional time processing individual images (selective retouching*) £25 per half hour or part thereof The purchase of all images for web use (provided exactly as reviewed online) and delivery on CD / DVD £60 The purchase of all images in high resolution (in the event of this facility being available - to be agreed in advance) and delivery on CD / DVD. £90 Additional supply of images by email (maximum 10 MB) £20 Additional supply of images on CD or DVD £35 Archive recovery (delivering duplicate images over three months after shoot) £40 Expedited Turnaround A turnaround period of four working days is assumed (or longer where final payment is awaited). In the event of a request for high resolution photographs prior to payment or within four working days then a further fee of £40 will become payable. The right is reserved to request same day electronic payment of all funds due prior to release of the photographs. Expedited turnaround is subject to the time being available and the appropriate fee having been paid. By the simple measure of making your need for urgent delivery known at the time of booking (or at least four working days ahead of the shoot) this fee may be reduced. A fee of £25 will secure expedited turnaround with preview images being available within 24 hours of the shoot; final high resolution images within 24 hours of the request being received. Expenses Travel expenses are included for all shoots in Central London and areas with SW or W postcodes. Parking Charges and Congestion Charge expenses are recovered at cost. Otherwise a mileage charge of 40p per mile will be applied for any mileage in excess of 15 miles each way. Copyright I normally retain copyright but allow you exclusive use of the images. Transferring copyright allows you to not only use the images yourself but also sell them to third parties for their use. A surcharge of 30% of the total fee shall be applied should you require such a transfer to be made.
*Selective retouching is image processing that applies to part of the image only – ie it does not apply to the whole image. **High resolution files are provided at minimal compression in the .jpg format. You can choose .RGB or AdobeRGB colour space (the former is better for the web and most uses, the latter for fine quality printing of artworks, say).
